On Easter Monday 1916, a group of Irish nationalists proclaimed the establishment of the Irish Republic and, along with some 1,600 followers, staged a rebellion against the British government in Ireland. As a result of the rising, a treaty was signed in 1921 that in 1922 established the Irish Free State which eventually became the modern-day Republic of Ireland. This outstanding trio of commemoratives; each fully layered with pure 24 carat gold, forms an inspiring tribute to three of the legendary figures who made Irish independence possible. Reflected in these beautifully crafted pieces are the extraordinary lives of Michael Collins, Padraig Pearse and Thomas Clarke, each of whom played their own particular role in the long battle to remove our island from British occupation – Pearse and Clarke in the Easter Rising of 1916 and Collins in the war of independence that led to the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922.
